The USD 457 Board of Education approved moving forward with planning for grade reconfiguration at its regular Board meeting on Sept. 25.

Enrollment numbers for the Sept. 20 headcount are in.

USD 457, along with Russell Child Development Center, will hold a free developmental screening clinic for children birth to four years of age who are Garden City residents.

Finney County voters will have a unique opportunity Nov. 4 in the general election, as candidates for the USD 457 Board of Education are all “fresh faces” as no incumbents are running.

There will be no school for Garden City Public Schools USD 457 on Thursday, Sept. 25, and Friday, Sept. 26, for scheduled inservices for teachers during each of the days.

Garden City Public Schools USD 457 is looking at expanding Debate and Forensics teams into the middle schools in the district.

USD 457 has selected Garden City High School science teacher, Scott Glass, as a nominee for the Kansas Teacher of the Year award. He was nominated as the secondary classroom teacher.

Garden City Achieve gave a building presentation at the USD 457 Board of Education’s regular meeting on Monday.

There will be no school for Garfield Early Childhood Center students and kindergarten students in Garden City Public Schools USD 457 on Friday, Sept. 12.
