If you’ve been to Lee Richardson Zoo lately, you may have seen a sign on the door of the Safari Shoppe saying renovations are underway. Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo (FOLRZ) has been hard at work getting ready for a new season.
The Garden City Commission approved revisions to the Lee Richardson Zoo Use Guidelines, which includes revisions to fees for event use, at its regular meeting on March 4.
As the days get warmer and the weather becomes less grey, we all hope spring is near. Although the official start of spring is not until the spring equinox, on the 20th of March, animals, plants, and people are starting to prepare for the warm breath of spring. Many students and teachers alike look forward to a chance to spend time outside without classes, and it just so happens that right around spring’s official start is the week of spring break.
The Finney County Public Library and the Lee Richardson Zoo are hosting activities during spring break during the week of March 17-21.

According to The North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA), National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) is an international event to raise awareness about invasive species, the threat they can pose, and what can be done to prevent their spread. The week takes place during the last week of February, this year, running from Feb. 24 - 28.
