If you’ve been to Lee Richardson Zoo lately, you may have seen a sign on the door of the Safari Shoppe saying renovations are underway. Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo (FOLRZ) has been hard at work getting ready for a new season.
City Commission approves revisions to zoo use guidelines
The Garden City Commission approved revisions to the Lee Richardson Zoo Use Guidelines, which includes revisions to fees for event use, at its regular meeting on March 4.

Although the official start of spring is not until the spring equinox, on the 20th of March, animals, plants, and people are starting to prepare for the warm breath of spring. The Finney County Public Library and the Lee Richardson Zoo are hosting activities during spring break during the week of March 17-21.
Raya, the siamang, to move on from LRZ
Animal Care Staff at Lee Richardson Zoo have been providing foster care to Raya, a 21-month-old siamang, since the sudden, unexpected loss of her mother “Violet” in January of this year.
