SCOTT CITY – Friday proved to be a defensive battle and a reversal of fortune.On Oct.
SCOTT CITY - Holcomb Longhorn senior Manny Anguiano picked an opportunistic time to make his first field goal of the season.“I put all my faith in God and just had confidence,” Anguiano said of his 25-yard field goal Friday night into a stiff 35 mph wind.“Just told him to keep his head down and punch through it,” Holcomb coach Trey Teeter said.
The Holcomb High School football team opened postseason play on Friday with a 12-7 victory in front of the home crowd over Marysville to move on to regional play..The Longhorn defense showed its strength through the game, holding the Bulldogs scoreless through three quarters until allowing a single touchdown in the fourth.Holcomb got on the board in the second quarter as quarterback Keegan Johnson scored a rushing touchdown.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get going.That was the case for the Holcomb High School football team Friday night, in front of the home crowd, in a 32-6 victory against Hugoton.The Eagles got on the scoreboard first, moving the ball down the field and scoring on its opening drive of the game.
Keegan Johnson and Halle Jones have been named the male and female Athletes of the Week, respectively, through voting in the weekly contest.Both are student-athletes at Holcomb High School.Johnson, Longhorns’ quarterback on the football team, has thrown for 967 yards in five games including a 255-yard performance.
Anytime Holcomb High School and Scott City come together to compete in any sports, it’s always a battle.
COLBY – The Holcomb High School football team picked up a victory Friday at Colby, 41-7, as its defense limited the Eagles to a single touchdown in the game.Holcomb moves to 4-1 on the season with the win.The Longhorns’ offense started off with a bang, scoring 21 points in the first quarter to jump out to a lead that would hold up through the game.The Holcomb defense dominated the first half holding Colby scoreless.
