If Chloe Ptacek could bookend the week of Oct. 6 -10, she would gladly accept that it was “a very good week.”

While the Garden City High School girls’ tennis team didn’t come away with any individual or doubles titles on Saturday at their own GCHS Invitational, they still performed well enough to take third in the team standings.

MCPHERSON - The Doug Gayer McPherson Invitational tennis tournament was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday but didn’t start until 1:30 p.m. due to rain.

DODGE CITY - While senior Chloe Ptacek returned to the lineup at Tuesday’s Dodge City Invitational as the top singles player, it was sophomore Vivian Whitham who garnered the spotlight by winning the Open bracket singles title, capturing all four of her matches.

WICHITA - There was no surprise at the competitive Wichita-Collegiate season-opening tennis invitational for the Garden City High School girls’ team.

There was always going to be an almost complete makeover of the roster for the Garden City High School girls’ tennis team when the 2025 season begins.

If the lineup for the opening tournament of the 2024 Garden City High School girls’ tennis team looks vaguely familiar, it’s because it actually is.
