DODGE CITY - The Garden City High School girls’ golf team punched their ticket to the Class 6A state tournament on Oct. 21-22 on Monday by shooting their lowest team (four players) score of the season at a 6A regional tournament in Dodge City at Mariah Hills.
For the entire five tournament Western Athletic Conference girls’ golf schedule this fall, Garden City High School has been the dominant team.
HAYS - The fourth Western Athletic Conference girls’ golf tournament was scheduled to be played at Lake Barton Golf Course in Great Bend as the normal rotation of each WAC school hosting an event.
HUTCHINSON - Junior Brooke Savolt made her first hole-in-one Thursday at the Hutchinson Invitational and that accomplishment propelled her to a 6-over-par 77 at Carey Park to place in a tie for fifth and help Garden City High School to a fourth-place team finish in a field of 18 teams.
LIBERAL - The Garden City High School girls’ golf team made it a three-for-three Western Athletic Conference triumph at Monday’s Liberal Invitational played over the Willow Tree Golf Course layout.
HESSTON - Garden City High School’s girls’ golf team stepped out of their usual tournament schedule on Friday by playing in the Buhler Invitational at Hesston Golf Course.
DODGE CITY - While the Garden City High School girls’ golf team finished a distant second to Class 5A powerhouse Wichita-Kapaun Mt. Carmel on Thursday at the Dodge City Invitational, their score was still easily good enough to run away with the Western Athletic Conference portion of the tournament at Mariah Hills Golf Course.
The top conference athletes and teams for each sport are featured on the WAC website at the conclusion of the sport’s season.
