DODGE CITY - Three days earlier in a doubleheader sweep of Dodge City’s Red Demons, the Garden City High School softball team had captured 19-0 and 15-0, three-inning, run-rule victories in Garden City.

Following a tough week in which they dropped all three games to Western Athletic Conference champion Great Bend, the Garden City High School softball team needed an injection of energy and positivity.

GREAT BEND - While Dodge City’s Red Demons continued their unbeaten record in the 2025 Western Athletic Conference boys’ golf season on Monday, the individual race continues to favor defending champion Maddix Shook of Garden City.

DODGE CITY - Garden City High School’s boys’ tennis team had hoped that Friday’s strong effort in Haysville at the Campus Invitational would provide some momentum going into Monday’s Western Athletic Conference championship in Dodge City.

HAYS - It was a two-plus hour bus ride to Hays on Friday for the Garden City High School baseball game against the Indians.

The Garden City High School Hall of Fame committee has selected Johnetta Holmes-Hebrlee, in-town inductee, and Gary Fief, out-of-county inductee, to be introduced into the GCHS Hall of Fame at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16, in the GCHS commons area, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

HAYSVILLE - The Campus Invitational in Haysville had originally been scheduled for the third week of April but inclement weather forced the postponement and it was reset for Friday, May 2.

HUTCHINSON - For quite some time now during the spring track and field season, when meets are scheduled and you show up and discover both the Andale boys’ and girls’ track teams are there, it usually means looking for a top three or five finish rather than winning a meet.

MAIZE - The Maize High Girls’ Swimming Invitational proved every bit as difficult as Garden City High School girls’ Coach Jennifer Meng had expected.
