OVERLAND PARK – The Garden City High School girls’ wrestling team captured its first state championship with an impressive performance on Saturday at AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk in Overland Park while their male counterparts finished second to Manhattan in Class 6A.
The Garden City High School forensics team competed at the Dodge City Red Demon/National Individual Events Tournament of Champions Bid Invitational on Feb. 22 and the team had a successful day. They took first in team Sweeps, with 18 events in the finals.

LIBERAL - For most of the 2024-25 season, the Garden City High School boys’ basketball team had been searching for consistency to play a full 32 minutes.

The long, sometimes exhausting and certainly challenging 2024-2025 wrestling season has come down to the final two days of competition.

WICHITA - It was the performance necessary to qualify for the all-important Class 6A state bowling tournament, and nobody was happier than veteran head coach Kip Nichols after watching his boys’ team capture the top spot in a competitive field, his senior top bowler KJ Burns claim an individual gold, and two girls qualify individually.

LIBERAL - It wasn’t the way the Garden City High School girls’ basketball team wanted its regular season to end.

Paul Lappin has always said that the prize that means the most to the Garden City High School wrestling team is the one on the final Saturday of each season.
