GCHS boys’ soccer has season-high in scoring

In a season of frustration at the ability to score goals, the Garden City Buffaloes’ boys’ soccer team scored the most goals of the year in Thursday night’s 3-0 non-conference victory over favored Wichita North at Buffalo Stadium.In what is now a 5-10-1 regular season record, the Buffs secured their first win by more than one goal and only for the second time all year, the match was decided by more than one goal.Now, the Buffs will await the official pairings to be announced on today, Oct.

GCHS’ Savolt garners top 20 finish at 6A state golf

HUTCHINSON – Garden City High School sophomore Brooke Savolt capped off a successful second season of high school golf on Tuesday when she finished tied for 18th at the Class 6A state golf tournament at Hutchinson’s Carey Park Golf Course.Savolt completed the 36-hole event with a two-day total of 163 (75-88) and brought home the team’s first top 20 medal since Ryann Warren in 2021.Another sophomore, Megan Burr, made the cut for the final round and finished with identical scores of 90 for a 180 total.
