DODGE CITY - The Western Athletic Conference one-day round-robin championship is still more than two weeks away, but the Tuesday night sweep of conference foes Liberal and Dodge City extended the Garden City High School volleyball winning streak to 11 matches.However, the twin victories at Dodge City High School’s gymnasium didn’t come easily.Yes, they did sweep Liberal in two sets, but the first one was a hard-fought 25-21 score and then followed by a 25-15 margin.

GCHS boys’ soccer captures narrow victory over Great Bend

It’s always a relief to leave the pitch with a victory when playing in the Western Athletic Conference.Such was the feeling for the Garden City High School’s boys’ soccer team after surviving a last second scare to escape with a 1-0 victory over Great Bend on Tuesday night at Buffalo Stadium.Make no mistake about this match – the Buffs were not the usual dominant force they have been in years past against Great Bend, traditionally the last place team in the WAC.

Ulysses’ Stepp named GCHS boys’ swimming coach

For most of her life, swimming has been a big part of her personal and professional career.From competitive swimming as a youth to club coaching and swimming administration, Aleisha Stepp has generated a comprehensive resume of the sport she grew up loving.Now, Stepp will have the opportunity for a new venture after being named recently as the new boys’ swimming coach at Garden City High School.
