SPECIAL OLYMPICS COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Local law enforcement officers, staff and their families run south on Main Street Saturday to eventually Garden Rapids at the Big Pool for the annual Special Olympics Torch Run.  The group of 58 began at the Law Enforcement Center, ran on Pine Street to Main Street then south and included members of the Garden City Police department, Finney County Sheriff's department and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Brandy Unruh flies through the air as she take a turn down a Fly Time slide Saturday at Garden Rapids at the Big Pool. Unruh was one of the 42 participants in the Solar (Polar) Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.  The local participants crushed the event's fundraising goal of $6,000 by raising $9,315.31.
