CEO named for St. Catherine Hospital
Centura Health has announced Jeff Carrier as the new Chief Executive Officer for St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City and Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. He will officially begin on Jan. 11, 2021.
As CEO of St. Catherine Hospital and Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Carrier will cultivate strong relationships between the hospitals’ Boards of Trustees, caregivers, providers and volunteers to impact the health and wholeness of every life, every neighbor and every community across southwest Kansas.
“Jeff is an innovative health care executive with proven success of partnering with physicians, enhancing the overall quality and safety of patient care, and serving local communities,” Tom Gessel, Group President for Centura’s Greater Colorado and Kansas region, said. “He will provide outstanding strategic direction and leadership for our hospitals’ sustained success, while giving emphasis to clinical excellence and the creation of optimal value.”
Prior to joining Centura, Carrier served as Chief Clinical Officer for Freeman Health System in Joplin, Mo., and was responsible for the overall operations of patient care and nursing services for the 460-bed, three hospital system with 300 physicians. During his tenure with Freeman Health, he also held the senior leadership positions of System Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Operations, supporting enterprise-wide operations, workforce management, scalable growth, partnership development and supply chain.
Prior to Freeman Health, he served in clinical roles with Ascension, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and Olathe Medical Center. Early in his health care career, Carrier was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served at Troop Medical Clinic and Winn Army Hospital.

A Kansas native, Carrier grew up in Wichita and graduated high school in Emporia. He received his Bachelor of Nursing from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe and his Master of Science in Management from Baker University in Baldwin City.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), Certified Specialist Physician Practice Management (CSPPM) and Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC).
