Inmate tests positive at Finney County Jail
An inmate at the Finney County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.
The case was confirmed by the Finney County Health Department on Wednesday.
All inmates and staff have been tested, the results are pending.
Colleen Drees, Finney County Health Department director, said county staff is taking precautions to prevent further spread.
“Finney County will provide surveillance testing on a regular basis to continue assessment of this situation,” she said. “We are also supporting the jail staff and medical personnel to provide medical monitoring on all inmates to help prevent spread within the facility.”
The Finney County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with the Health Department and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Dr. Lindsay Byrnes, Finney County Medical director, will consult on cases and inmate health.
