Child injured in hit and run accident

On Sept. 8, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a Garden City Police Department officer was in the area of the intersection of Third and Mary Streets, when she was told about an accident that had just occurred, involving a child on a bicycle.

Witnesses said a 10-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on the north sidewalk of 300 E. Mary St. when he was struck by a red, unknown make passenger car as he attempted to ride his bike across the street.

The vehicle fled the area and did not stop to render aid. The boy sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Finney County EMS and released to family members.
