Garden City Community College athletic fans can start scheduling much of their fall as the college recently announced the fall schedules for most of its 2019 sports.

The Broncbuster football team will kick off its first season under head coach Tom Minnick vs. Snow College (Utah) at 1 p.m. Aug. 24. Snow is a familiar opponent for Minnick, whose former school Arizona Western played in the now defunct Western States Football League alongside Snow.

The Busters then open conference play at Dodge City on Aug. 31, followed by a pair of home games vs. Ellsworth (Iowa) and Independence.

In total, the Busters have six scheduled home games — all six are afternoon games — and five away games. The Busters went 10-1 and were national runners-up in 2018.

The volleyball team, meanwhile, has a lengthy road schedule to begin the season, starting with a match at McCook (Neb.) on Aug. 22. The Busters’ first home match will be vs. Butler at 6 p.m. Sept. 4. The Busters will have played 10 road or neutral site matches before then.

The volleyball team is also under the guidance of a new head coach, as Patrick Hiltz takes over after the program went 0-31 in 2018.

The men’s soccer team is also set to start the season on the road, getting started at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 at Jefferson College. Its first home game will be 7 p.m. Aug. 17 vs. Oklahoma Panhandle State.

The women’s schedule has not yet been released, nor has the cross country schedule.
