Goodland won Friday’s GWAC tournament at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course, posting a 338 team score, well ahead of second-place Ulysses’ 375 and third-place Scott City’s 389. Colby took fourth with a 438.
Holcomb and Hugoton did not have enough golfers to round out team scores.
Playing on just the back nine at Buffalo Dunes — due to the Hi-Plains League tournament also being played on Friday — Garin Ihrig led the way for Goodland with a 75 to win the individual title.
Colby’s Carter Stanley and Ulysses’ Austin Perez tied for second, each carding 80s.
Goodland’s Ryan Lalicker and Scott City’s Jackson Lewis rounded out the top five, tying for fourth with identical 83s.
The five Class 3A schools — Goodland, Colby, Scott City, Holcomb and Hugoton — all will hit the links again Monday in Goodland for the regional tournament at Sugar Hills Golf Course. Meanwhile, Ulysses will play in Buhler in the Class 4A regional tournament at Hesston Golf Park.

Cimarron swept the top three spots on the Hi-Plains League tournament leader board on Friday at Buffalo Dunes, cruising to the team title with a 334 score, well ahead of second-place Syracuse’s 383.
Playing 18 holes on just the front nine at Buffalo Dunes — due to the GWAC tournament being held at the same time on the back nine — Matt Mowry won the individual title with an 8-over par 80, followed by Josh Weishapl (81) and Justin Fugitt (83). Cimarron’s fourth golfer was not too far behind as both Tate Seabolt and Nick Pfeifer tied for ninth with identical 90s.
Elkhart’s Lance Addington took fourth and Syracuse’s Ryan Thompson fifth.
Lakin took third as a team with a 405, Elkhart was fourth (412), Meade fifth (414), Sublette sixth (422) and Stanton County seventh (445).
Cimarron, the lone Class 3A school in the bunch, heads to Goodland for its regional tournament on Monday. Meanwhile, the other six teams head to Stanton County for Monday’s regional at Prairie Pines Golf Course.
