Garden City Community College has a new athletic director.
On Friday, GCCC announced the hiring of Greg McVey to take over the Broncbusters’ athletic department.
McVey takes over from interim athletic director Colin Lamb, who will continue to be an assistant athletic director and vice president of student services. Lamb served as interim athletic director since former GCCC A.D. John Green resigned in August.
McVey is the current director of athletics and recreation at the College of DuPage in Illinois. He has also worked as an A.D. at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., according to a GCCC news release.
“We are ecstatic to bring an individual with such experience, connections, and a great deal of integrity to lead Broncbuster athletics,” GCCC President Ryan Ruda said, according to the release.
McVey wasn't available for comment Friday.
He will officially start his duties on May 27, the release said, and the college expects to hold a news conference with McVey between May 6 and 10.
McVey earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana and a master’s degree in sports administration from Miami University in Ohio, the release said.
