The Garden City Buffaloes softball team continues to roll this season, steamrolling the TMP-Marian Monarchs, 11-1 and 12-2, Thursday night in Hays. That is now 64 runs in six wins this season thus far.

The Buffaloes started quick, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Those would be the only runs needed as the Buffs held the Monarchs to one run, in the bottom of the first, and scoreless for the rest of the game.

Kelbi Richter finished the first game with three RBIs, while Erikah Foster and Lauren Koster finished with two each. Yazmin Vargas earned the win, pitching a complete game and only allowing one run and five hits on 90 pitches while striking out nine Monarchs.

It was more of the same in the second game as Garden City scored three runs in the opening inning and never trailed, holding TMP to only two runs in the bottom half of the third inning.

The usual suspects did most of the damage for the Buffaloes in the second game. Taylor Terpstra led the team, finishing with three RBIs, while Foster and Vargas added to their total with two RBIs of their own.

Gisselle Gutierrez got the win after pitching five innings on 60 pitches and only giving up three hits.
