SCOTT CITY - Urla J. Hopkins, age 88, passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at the Ranch House Assisted Living in Garden City, KS. She was born on May 6, 1932, in Ransom, KS, the daughter of Fred W. and Blanche Horchem Rufenacht.
In Aug. of 1932, she moved with the family to Scott County and attended school in Ness County, then attended Mount Hope School in Scott County and graduated from Scott Community High School in 1950. She was an employee of USD 466 for four years.
On Sept. 22, 1951, she married John R. Hopkins in Scott City, KS. He passed away on Oct. 19, 1998, in Scott City, KS.
Survivors include her two sons, Dan Hopkins of Jetmore, KS, Dewane Hopkins of Larned, KS; one daughter, Denece Dowden of Mount Pleasant, SC; one brother, George and Val Rufenacht of Scott City, KS; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Vernon Rufenacht; two sisters, Ila Thearl, Freda Stafford; and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, KS. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021, at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, KS, with Rev. Robert Nuckolls presiding. Services will be streamed live on Facebook at Price and Sons Funeral Home page (www.facebook.com/priceandsons) starting at 1:55 p.m.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, KS.
