DIGHTON - Franklin Keana Opunui, age 84, died on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at the Parklane Nursing Home in Scott City, KS. He was born on Nov. 3, 1936, in Maui, Hawaii, the son of John Likua Opunui and Mary Ellen Elaina Huihui. He was a resident of Dighton, KS, since 1979, after moving from Junction City, Kansas.
He worked for Sprint and United telephone companies and retired in 1986. From 1953 until 1976, he served in the United States Army as an aircraft mechanic and repairman and an instructor.
On Sept. 6, 1982, Franklin married Nancy Zelfer in Ness City, KS. She survives and lives in Dighton, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.
