LAKIN - Dolores L. (Taton) Szekula, 84, died Feb. 6, 2021 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, KS. She was born July 14, 1936 in Garden City, KS, the daughter of George E. & Mildred Louise (Roberts) Taton. Dolores grew up on the family farm in the Pleasant Prairie area of Haskell County, KS. She attended Satanta High School where she graduated in 1954. She worked most of her life in the agricultural industry. Dolores was a member of the Pleasant Prairie Church of God where she loved to sing. She also enjoyed gardening, bowling, and loved to spend time with her children and family.
Survivors include six children, Tawanna Groth and husband Bryan of Lakin, KS, Richard LeBrun and wife Holly of Lakin, KS, George Dickerson and wife Temple Heatherly of Casper, WY, Johnny Dickerson of Boulder City, Nevada, Shelly Morgan and husband Gary of Lakin, KS, and Michael Szekula and wife Christina of Garden City, KS; 14 grandchildren, Adrienne and Charles Chaloupek, Andrea and Todd Kirschenmann, Jarrad and Jennifer Groth, Jeremy Groth, Jordon and Kylie Gorth, Dylan Dickerson, Whitney Wince, Delaynie Dickerson, Derek Dickerson, Dalles Dickerson, Samantha and Dakota Williams, Jessica and John Roetzer, Ross & Heidi Morgan, and Seth Szekula; and 25 great-grandchildren. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kenny Dickerson and Donny Dickerson; a daughter, Cindy Palmer; and two grandchildren, Amber Kornegay and Wes Groth.
A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2021 at the Pleasant Prairie Church of God in Haskell County, KS. The services may also be viewed on Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
