LAKIN - Norman Patrick Shelden, age 60, died on Jan. 25, 2021 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, KS. He was born March 13, 1960 in Lakin, KS. After the death of his mother, Rhonda, Norman was raised by his grandparents, James and Ida Mae (Clower) Shelden. He attended Lakin schools and graduated from Lakin High School in 1978. On July 3, 1982, he married Tammy Neel in Meade, KS. Norman has worked most of his life for various companies as a water well driller. He loved to spend his time fishing and was an avid Kansas Chiefs fan.
Survivors include two children, Daniel Shelden of Wichita, KS and David Shelden of Lakin, KS; three brothers, Tom Shelden of Garden City, KS, Roger Shelden of Niangua, MO, and Donald Shelden of Tuttle, OK; and four grandchildren, Ian Shelden, Ben Shelden, Leo Shelden, and Miah Shelden. Norman is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; four brothers, Bob Shelden, Ted Shelden, Jerry Shelden, and Bill Shelden; and a sister, Thelma Turney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2021 at the Lakin Wesleyan Church in Lakin, KS. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, all at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin, KS.
