Gerald “Jerry” Francis Huschka, age 66, died Nov. 10, 2020 at the Swedish Medical Hospital in Englewood, CO. He was born June 6, 1954 in Larned, KS the son of Martin H. and Mary Ellen (Hammeke) Huschka.
Shortly after Jerry was born, his family moved to a farm in rural Finney County, KS, where he grew up. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1972. Jerry was employed over the years at Kansas State Southwest Research Center, Reeve Agri Energy, Garden City Telegram, and Home Depot, all of Garden City, KS. He enjoyed his beloved furry feline pets, and feeding squirrels and birds. Jerry lovingly chose to continue giving even after his death through organ donation.
On Feb. 2, 2002, he married Amy Lundquist in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives. Other survivors include three brothers, Mark Huschka of Kansas City, MO, Bernard (Merrie) Huschka of Garden City, KS, and James (Sherry) Huschka of Ottawa, KS; three sisters, JoAnn (Jeff) Yager of Wichita, KS, Rosemary (Rick) Corbett and Celeste (Brent) Petersen both of Garden City, KS. He is also survived by 16 nephews and nieces. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Chris Chappas-Huschka.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials given to Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo in care of the Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Condolences may be given online at garnandfuneralhomes.com .
