SYRACUSE - Neva Ann (Shamburg) Maxfield, age 86, died at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, KS on Oct. 29, 2020. She was born on Aug. 1, 1934 in Randall, KS, the daughter of Virgil Robert Shamburg and Velma Goldia (Sadler) Shamburg. On June 10, 1950, she married Charles Leroy Maxfield in Raton, NM. In 1975 she began working for Loves Convenience Store as a Manager until 1995 when she decided to retire. In October of 2017, she moved to the High Plains Retirement Village due to her health and resided there until her passing.
She is survived by three sons, Stephen Maxfield of Monte Vista, CO, Daniel Maxfield of Lakin, KS and Scott Maxfield of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Sandra Wright of Lakin, KS, Tamara Helton of Holcomb, KS; one brother, Duane Shamburg of Smyrna, TN; four sisters, Roberta Peters of Salina, KS, Lila Collette of Shawnee, KS, Telva Swenson of Manhattan, KS, Linda Donnelly of Lakin, KS , 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Robert Shamburg; her mother, Velma Goldie (Sadler) Shamburg; her spouse, Charles Leroy Maxfield; four brothers, Daniel Shamburg, Lenus Shamburg, Ron Shamburg, Les Shamburg; and sister, Edith Pilcher.
Memorial Services was held Nov. 9, 2020 at 10 a.m. (MST) at the Southern Baptist Church, in Syracuse, KS. Inurnment followed at the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, KS.
