CIMARRON - Judy Kay Stand, age 66, died Oct. 27, 2020 at the Minneola Hospital. She was born on Aug. 13, 1954 in Dodge City, KS, the daughter of Leonard and Emily (Thomas) Woods. Judy’s childhood years were spent in Kalvesta, KS. She graduate Cimarron High School in 1972. While in high school she met Dan Stand at a roping club dance. When Dan enlisted in the Navy, Judy waited for him to return and they were married on Jan. 20, 1973 in Kalvesta, KS. She work at United Telephone as a sales manager, retiring on Aug. 31, 2020.
Judy is survived by her husband Dan of Cimarron, KS; four children, Casey Stand of Pottsboro, Texas, Lynette Landis of Lawrence, KS, Jeana Stand of Minneola, KS, and Joe Stand of Hugoton, KS; a stepson, Mike Payton of Wyandotte, OK, her mother, Emily Woods of Dodge City, KS; six grandchildren, a step granddaughter; one brother, Darrell Woods of Kalvesta, KS; three sisters, Ruby Beatty of Dodge City, KS, Margie Cunningham of Dodge City, KS, and Darlene Dyson of Hydro, OK. She is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Woods, and a brother, “Doc” Woods.
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Cimarron, KS, on Nov. 2, 2020 at 1 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel.
