Betty Jean Shelton Austin

SCOTT CITY - Betty Jean Shelton Austin, age 91, died Sept. 25, 2020 at her home in Scott City, KS. She was born on Jan. 3, 1929 in Glade, KS, the daughter of John Allen and Vernie McLaughlin Baker. A resident of Scott City, KS since 1979 moving from Guymon, OK she was a retired secretary from HRC Feedyard and was the owner and operator of Kringle’s Kreations.

On Nov. 8, 1946 she married Charles Shelton in Ness City, KS. He passed away in March of 1979 in Guymon, OK. On Jan. 29, 1983 she married Robert Austin in Scott City, KS. He passed away in Nov. of 2002 in Scott City, KS.

Survivors include her six children, Sherry Brooks of Broomfield, CO, Nikki Geier of Garden City, KS, Allen Shelton of Garden City, KS, Steve Shelton of Scott City, KS, Craig Shelton of Fayetteville, AR, Elizabeth Lewis of Scott City, KS; one step son, Mike Austin of Graham, WA; 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one brother, Cecil Baker and one sister, Viola Benedict.

Memorial services were held on Oct. 2, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, KS. Inurnment was in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, KS. Memorials In Lieu of Flower may be written to the Scott County Health Department.
