Robert Buerkle, age 94, died at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, KS., on Oct. 12, 2020. He was born on May 16, 1926 in Garden City, KS, the son of Andrew and Beulah Armentrout Buerkle.
Robert was a farmer and an active member of the Church of the Brethren of Friend, KS. He was also a 33rd-degree Mason, Shriner, Scout Master, Finney County Commissioner, and a past member of the Finney County Historical Society. On Aug.12, 1945 he married Donita Hagler at the Deerfield United Methodist Church, Deerfield, Ks. She survives.
Other survivors include: three children, Anita (Dennis) Miller of Wilson, KS, Christine (Gregg) Joy of Garden City, KS, Gail (Karen) Buerkle of Azel, Texas; eight grandchildren, Tammy Miller of Russell, KS, Pam Funk of Alabama, Kenton Pollman of Wichita, KS, Rachel Schmit of Brandon, FA, Brett Pollman of Wichita, KS, Terry Miller of Beaver, KS, Lisa Pollman-Scott of Holcomb, KS, Garry Lee Miller of Ellsworth, KS; one sister, Pauline Weddle of Garden City, KS; 14 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Alan Buerkle and Gary Lee Buerkle;
one brother, Dean Buerkle.
There will be no public calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 at the Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Friend, KS. Memorials are suggested to the Church of the Brethren or the Masonic Lodge in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St. Garden City, KS 67846.
