ULYSSES - Marvin “Dale” Cole, age 85, died August 2, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Dale was born on January 13, 1935, in Lindsay, OK to Doc and Lillie (Griffin) Cole. In 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Jones. Dale earn his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1960. Dale and Shirley moved to Ulysses, KS, in August 1959.
Dale is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Cole of Ulysses, KS; son, Mike Cole of Pampa, Texas; daughters, Melisa Westerman of Liberal, KS, and Cathy Frank of Omaha, NE; nine grandkids; and five great-grandkids; brothers, Don Cole of Gallup, NM; Darvis Cole of Norman, OK; Dewayne Cole of Lindsay, OK; and sisters Della Cobb of Marlow, OK; and Delma Lou Hall of Holdenville, OK. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Edie Cole; brothers, Dennis Cole, Dugie Cole, Darrel Cole, and Dan Cole; and sister-in-laws Sylvia Cole and June Cole.
Funeral Service will be August 8, 2020, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ulysses, KS. Interment of ashes will be at the family cemetery in Foster, OK at a later date yet to be announced. Friends and family may call at Robson Funeral Home in Ulysses, KS, on August 7, 2020, from 3 p.m until 8 p.m. Family requests memorial contributions be given to Ulysses Lions Club Sight Project or First Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Robson Funeral Home, 218 South Main, Ulysses, KS 67880.
