George Doyle McGrew

Tuttle - George Doyle McGrew, 91, died August 26, 2021 at his home in Tuttle, Oklahoma. He was born May 19, 1930 in Topeka, Kansas the son of George and Edith (Thomas) McGrew.

George grew up and attended school in Topeka, after graduation he enlisted in the National Guard. In 1951 he transferred his enlistment to the United States Army and that same year he met Roberta Faye LeFort who was introduced to him by his sister. George and Roberta were wed in December of 1954 and moved their family to Garden City in 1960.

George farmed for a time and was employed as a truck driver also. He was hardworking and talented in many areas, he used his talents in construction and woodworking to make a career doing mobile home repair work. He was an honest, loyal, and patriotic man, he took great pride in his time in the military and was honored to have served his country.

He is survived by a son- George McGrew, Jr. of Tuttle, Oklahoma, a daughter- Elizabeth Anderson of Holcomb, Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his wife Roberta, his parents- George and Edith, and his three sisters- Juanita (McGrew) Adams, Helen (McGrew) Garner, and Betty (McGrew) Coberly.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday September 18, 2021 at Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #190.
