Evelyn Irene Tabor
Garden City - Evelyn Irene Tabor, born October 26th, 1931, in Garden City, Kansas, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 5, 2021 after a brief illness with cancer.
Evelyn was one of fourteen children born to Royal "Roy" and Lottie "Pearl" Wheeler Yardley. The Yardley family farmed in the Plymell community for many years. Evelyn met and married Delmar Moffitt September 5th, 1950 in Clayton, New Mexico. The young newlyweds moved to Colorado, where the couple had and raised their three children. Evelyn was very talented and creative. She had many skills and hobbies one of which was playing the piano, bowling, quilting, cake decorating, sewing and listening to gospel music.
Evelyn returned to Garden City in 1974 to care for her ailing mother where she lived the remaining years of her life. She Married Clifford Tabor in December 1997. She worked many years at Gibsons and Garden Pharmacy, but is best known as the "Demo Lady" at Walmart, Sam's and Dillon's stores in Garden City, where people called her 'Grandma', as she handed out loving hugs, along with the demo products. She loved "Demoing" and the wonderful friends she met through her Demo work.
Evelyn was a devout Christian, with strong belief in her faith and love of Jesus. She was a member of Church of Nazarene for many years, and more recently attending the First Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters; Vaneta and husband Jay Harper, of Goodyear, Arizona and Lynda Klaes of Fairbanks, Alaska; one son Chris and wife Kwan Moffitt, of Fairbanks, Alaska; two step-sons; David Tabor, and Don and wife Kathy Tabor, all of Garden City, and two step-daughters; Kathy and husband Leo Smith, of Garden City and Karla Tabor of Wichita; one sister Letha Leeper , one sister-in-Law, Katheryn Yardley, both of Garden City, Kansas ; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; infant son Eugene Roy Moffitt, husbands, Delmar Moffitt and Clifford Tabor, sisters Viola Warren, Bernice Rollins and Ella Mae Yardley; and brothers Kenneth Yardley, Virgil Yardley, Delbert Yardley, Curtis Yardley, Garold Yardley, Leonard Yardley, Mervin Yardley, Vertis Yardley, and Roy "Junior" Yardley, and son-in-law Dan Klaes and one step-grand-son.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday September 9, 2021 at 11:00 am at The First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas.They will also be available for viewing via Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Homes Facebook Page.
