HUGOTON - Belva Hickey, age 84, died June 2, 2020, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, KS. She was born August 13, 1935, in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Joe and Ella (Maschmeier) Freeman.
Belva grew up on the Light Ranch southeast of Liberal where she enjoyed living the ranch lifestyle. She attended a country school and graduated from Liberal High School. She married Darrell “Pete” Hickey on August 17, 1953, in White Settlement, TX. In 1971, the family moved to Hugoton. She worked at the Stevens County Courthouse and was the County Treasurer.
She is survived by her two sons, Don Hickey of Amarillo, TX, and Larry Hickey of Hugoton; brother, Charles Freeman of Edmond, OK; sister, Roberta Kepley of Hugoton; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Belva is preceded in death by her parents; husband Pete in 2018; daughter, Linda Lea (Hickey) Moser; and brother Nemo Freeman.
Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. on June 5, 2020, at Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, KS. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on June 4, 2020, at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
