Jerry Jon Anderson

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Jerry Jon Anderson, passed away at the University of Colorado Hospital-Anschutz Medical Campus on May 26, 2020. He was born in Atchison, KS on November 5, 1958 to Faye Ellen Anderson and Carol N. (Andy) Anderson. He is survived by his mother (Garden City), his brothers Mark (Susan; Bellevue, WA) and Chuck (Naples, FL), his sister Kristin (Garden City, KS), his nephews Matt, Chris, Zach, and Grant, and was preceded in death by his father and, very recently, his special brother Nils Eric. He is also survived by his life partner of 19 years, Bennie Young of Broomfield, Colorado and her daughter Jackie Batchelor, son Ben Young (Katie) and his beloved granddaughter Violet.

Jerry attended Garden City High School, Garden City Community College, and Kansas State University, where he earned a Computer Engineering degree and a lifelong devotion to his K-State Wildcats. His career in network engineering and management stretched from KSU to Lincoln, NE to Chicago to Denver to Silicon Valley. He excelled at problem-solving and communications, with customers, peers, and management and he loved to share knowledge and learn new things.

Jerry was a brilliant, articulate, personable, fun-loving, bigger-than-life, never-knew-a-stranger, heart-of-gold guy, who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He and Bennie relished having family and friends come and stay at their home in Broomfield and showing off his majestic Rocky Mountains. His neighbors will miss his mad snow-blowing skills in the winter.

He was given the gift of a new liver on February 27, 2020 and fought hard to recover from the transplant, struggling with rejection and the ups and downs of secondary complications. Just as it seemed he was gaining ground his heart of gold gave out.

Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic a memorial service will be held at a future date in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the University of Colorado Hospital Foundation. University of Colorado Hospital Foundation
