Matthew Adam Rome

Matthew Adam Rome, age 24 died February 16, 2020 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born on February 16, 1996 in Garden City to Joe and Anna Mae Blakesley Rome.


Matthew attended Holcomb schools until 2007 when the family moved to California. He later return to Garden City in 2017. He did various odd jobs in construction and tree trimming, and later would begin the adventure of working at Tyson. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skateboarding, and working on vehicles. Also was an active member of the NRA.


Survivors include his parents Joe and Anna Mae Rome of Garden City; two sisters Amber Dunlap and Jeff of Garden City, Sarah Rome and Nick Sullivan of Defiance, OH; a brother David Childress and Dana of Phoenix, AR; his girlfriend Alisha Dugan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by both his Paternal and Maternal grandparents.


A Celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on February 21, 2020 at Cornerstone Church in Garden City. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City. Friends and Family may call from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
