DEERFIELD — Wayne F. Miller, 83, died on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin. He was born on Nov. 2, 1936, at Garden City, the son of Ted E. & Emma M. (Urie) Miller.

He married Carol Jean Wolff on May 31, 1958, at Garden City.

Wayne attended a country school and graduated from high school in Kearny County. He then earned his bachelor’s of science in history and agriculture from Fort Hays State University. He returned to Deerfield and was a lifelong farmer in Kearny County while also serving in the United States Army Reserves from 1960 to 1968.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Miller; son, Larry Miller and Karen of Deerfield; daughter, Cindy Miller of Deerfield; sister, Wanda Bravdica and Steve of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren, Jason Miller and Josslyn, Brandon Miller and Jessica , Aaron Miller, Jennifer Sperry and Levi, James Pettz, Amber Pettz, Danielle Pettz-Morgante and Matt Morgante; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Miller, Sadie Miller, Blaine Sperry, Raylee Sperry, Evelynn Sperry, Kylie Morgante and Claire Morgante.

Vigil service was at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11 and funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, both at St Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Burial was held in Deerfield Cemetery with military honors by Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard and American Legion District 8 Honor Guard.
