Benjamin “Doug” Tackett, 82, died on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on March 29, 1937, in Lakin to Earl and Bessie (Wells) Tackett.

He attended school in Deerfield. In August 1955, he married Margaret Bennett. They lived in Deerfield for two years and then moved to Garden City. He worked for Eatherly Construction from 1966 to 1984.

He is survived by his wife; his sons, Michael Tackett of Las Vegas and Mitch Tackett of Deerfield; a sister, Mert Goetz of Kingman, Kan.; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Stanley and Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Deerfield United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Deerfield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Deerfield United Methodist Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St. Garden City, KS 67846.
