Edna Mae (Burch) Thompson, 95, of Kendall, Kan., died on Sept. 26, 2019, at the Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse. She was born on Oct. 28, 1924, on the family farm south of Selkirk, Kan., to Lewis and Lillian (Page) Burch.

Edna graduated high school in 1942 in Leoti. She was united in marriage to Harold William Thompson on Aug. 6, 1943. To this union they were blessed with two children: Kenneth Lew and Patricia Lynn. Edna helped her husband on the farm and worked as a nurse for 28 years after earning her certification at age 47.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. MST on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Syracuse Wesleyan Church in Syracuse. Per Edna’s request, cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date.

Edna is survived by her husband, Harold Thompson of Kendall, Kansas; children, Kenneth Lew Thompson of Greeley, Colo., and Patricia Moore; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Betty Shetterly, Bill Burch and Donald Burch.
