ELKHART — William "Bill" Glover Rives, 90, died Aug. 21, 2019. Bill spent most of his life living in Elkhart and the past few years near his family in Lawrence and Overland Park.

Bill was born in Elkhart, the son of Edith (Marsh) and Glover William Rives. He attended the University of Kansas until he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War and was discharged from active service with the rank of sergeant in 1954. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1956 and returned home to work as a pharmacist at Rives Drug in Elkhart. Bill actively participated in the Elkhart community serving on the city council.

Bill is survived by his sister, Mabel Jean Branson of Gardner, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard "Dickie" Rives; and sister, Margaret Lucile Duckworth.

Graveside memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.
