Janette S. Finley Barker, 72, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City. She was born May 24, 1947, in Arkansas City, Kan., the daughter of Cecil and Anastacia Marie (St. Clair) Rogers.
Janette lived most of her life in Garden City where she attended Garden City schools. She later moved to Nixa, Mo., in 2010. Janette worked for many years as a registered nurse in Garden City. She enjoyed square dancing, ball room dancing and country dancing. On Oct. 28, 1968, she married Robert Al Finley in Santa Fe, N.M. Janette later married Gary Barker on June 5, 2000, in Las Vegas.
Janette is survived by two children, Weston Finley and wife Karen of Nixa, Mo., and Vonda Finley and fiance Jay Maupin of Dodge City; three sisters, Shirley Johnson of Albuquerque, N.M., Wanda Jo Daugherty of Garden City and Cecelia Papay of Meade, Kan.; and four grandchildren, Jacklyn Finley, Auston Finley, Stanton Finley and Reid Clanton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, on Jan. 31, 2010; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
