C. Ernie Ortiz, 69, died on Sept. 12, 2019, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on Nov. 24, 1949, in Garden City to Nicholas Ortiz Sr. and Mary Louise Ortiz. He was the owner and operator of El Conquistador Restaurant in Garden City.

Ernie is survived by three brothers, Paul P. Ortiz of Wichita and Clifford D. Ortiz and David M. Ortiz, both of Garden City; six sisters, Martha Ortiz Sanchez of Wichita, Diane Ortiz Lucero of Pueblo, Colo.; Barbara Jean Ortiz Bowen of Omaha, Neb.; Betty Jo Ortiz Herme of Santa Clarita, Calif., Carole Sue Ortiz Ramos of Wichita and Annette M. Ortiz of Garden City; as well as 31 nieces and nephews; and 36 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Nick Ortiz Jr., Edward Ortiz and Glen Ortiz; and one sister, Yvonne Ortiz Vasquez.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
