Donald Lynn Bird, or as most knew him as an adult, Don Bird, died suddenly on Sunday, August 23 at the age of 62, with cause of death still pending. After serving 23 years, to the exact date, as Pastor at Antioch Church of the Nazarene in Overland Park, KS, he preached his last sermon that morning, served his last communion, sang his last hymn, then realized something was wrong, sat down and went to be with his Savior and Lord. He died doing what God called him to do and what he loved, surrounded by people he loved and who loved him, after serving a total of 32 years in children, youth and senior pastoral ministry, touching hundreds of lives.

Don was born in Liberal, Kansas, on September 18,1956, to Donald Neil and Carolyn Aubrey Bird.

He attended school in Sublette, and graduated from Sublette High School in 1974. He went on to graduate from MidAmerica Nazarene College in 1978 with a major in Religion/History, and on to Johns Hopkins University PhD program in 19th Century Political and Social History, ABD

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheila; his four children, Justin and his two sons Matthew and Levi, Kansas City Area, Jessica and husband Dave, California, Jeremy and wife Christin, Washington, Julie and husband Brenton and son Caiden, Oregon; his mother, Carolyn of rural Sublette; his two sisters, Melodie Bird, Costa Rica, Valarie Williamson and husband Keith, Sublette, and several nieces and nephews.

Donald Lynn was preceded in death by his father, Donald Neil.
