TRIBUNE — Erma Maxine John, 91, died on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, in Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Erma was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Webb City, Mo., to James Monroe and Della (Williams) Patterson.

A resident of Hoisington for a short time, she had been a resident of Tribune since 1947. She was a homemaker and a retired bank teller.

Erma was always active in the Tribune/Greeley County community, serving for over 60 years in the Greeley County EHU (now FCE), where she held several state board offices including serving as state president from 1983 through 1985. In the 1970s, she was one of the first women elected to the Tribune City Council.

On Nov. 3, 1946, she married Robert Leon John at Webb City, Mo. Robert passed away on Jan. 14, 2012 in Tribune.

Erma is survived by two children, Janice Fahrenholtz of Andover and Tribune and Robert John in Bushton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday, Aug. 24 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tribune. Private burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune. There will be no calling times. A short memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. CST Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Bushton Community Center.
