Margaret A. Besthorn, 83, died on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at her home in Garden City. She was born on Sept. 13, 1935, in Finney County to Arthur and Gladys (Graves) Drussel.

She married James G. Crowley on Dec. 16, 1956, in Garden City. After he died on Sept. 6, 1993, she married Danny Besthorn on Nov. 23, 2005, in Garden City.

Margaret graduated from Garden City Community College and went to work at Fidelity State Bank as a teller. She retired as the head teller after 33 years with the bank.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Red Hatters, Eagles Lodge, VFW Auxiliary and Southwest Art Association and a past board member of the Garden City Community College Endowment Association Board. Margaret’s passion was painting and crafts and she also enjoyed fishing, dancing, camping and helping in the garden.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Danny Besthorn; brother, Doug Drussel of Castle Rock, Colo.; step-children, Dylan Buckley and wife Vicki of Garden City, Janet Hall and husband George of Liberal, Debbie Whiteaker of Pineville, Ark., Karen Griffin and husband Ray of Colby, Katherina Naab of Garden City, Mark Besthorn and wife Andrea of Wamego and Kyla Rosenbaum and husband Mark of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews, Ryan Drussel and Amy Anderson both of Overland Park, Bruce Drussel of West Plains, Mo., Dawn Drussel of Denver and Sandy Pratt of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James; and two brothers, Richard Drussel and Charlie Drussel.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home.
