Janet Kay Rivera, 75, died Monday, July 22, 2019, at The Ranch House in Garden City. She was born Sept. 5, 1943, in Larned to Eldred and Leona (King) Kershner.

Janet grew up in the Larned and Rozel area and attended and graduated from high school in Sheridan Lake, Colo. She worked at Gibson’s and as a waitress before she started to work in security at Tyson.

Janet was first married to Robert “Bob” McMichael. She later married Amado Rivera. Janet enjoyed watching TV, especially “Days Of Our Lives,” and spending time with her grandchildren and attending family activities.

She is survived by five children, Rod McMichael and wife Michelle of Greeley, Colo., Cindy McMichael Cordova of Alamosa, Colo., Donna Maestas and husband Tommy of Alamosa, Colo., Tina Leggett and husband Tad of Pipe Creek, Texas, and Amanda Mullet and wife Taren of Garden City; two brothers, Don Kershner of Colorado and Darrell Kershner of Great Bend; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Kershner; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
