Peggy D. Sperry, 87, died June 19, 2019, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born July 28, 1931, in Chillicothe, Mo., to Delbert Earnest & Georgia Geneva (Rosson) Frizzell.

Peggy grew up in Chillicothe. On Dec. 11, 1948, she married Charles Eugene “Gene” Sperry in Garden City, and has been a resident of the town since their marriage. A homemaker, Peggy enjoyed stained glass art, ceramics and cooking. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Sperry and wife Leah of Garden City; a sister, Betty Sperry of Garden City; one brother, Garland Frizzell of Ohio; two granddaughters, Ashley Crase and husband Matt and Mandy Kordsmeier and husband Luke; five great-grandchildren, Keeton Crase, Peyton Kordsmeier, Brady Crase, Ellie Crase and Beckett Kordsmeier; and several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; and a great-granddaughter, Charlie Kate Kordsmeier.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Turner’s Syndrome Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
