LAKIN — Raymond G. Kitten, 94, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin. He was born Oct. 10, 1924, in rural Kearny County to Henry and Katherine M. (Brand) Kitten.
Raymond has been a lifetime resident of Kearny County and he attended rural country schools. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. A lifetime farmer, he was a member of the First Christian Church of Lakin, where he chaired and served on the board and served as an Elder. He later attended the Church of Christ in Lakin, was a longtime member of the Kansas Farm Bureau, member of the Kearny County Extension Board and a member of the Kearny County Senior Center. Raymond enjoyed handyman work, carpentry, mechanics and fixing up old vehicles and tractors.
On May 26, 1954, he married Eva Jo Cooper in Kendall.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Beth Norris and husband Brent of Glade and Marvin Kitten and wife Stephanie of Overbrook; and three grandchildren, Erika Norris, Aden Kitten and Xander Kitten.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Herb Kitten, Lawrence Kitten, Vernon Kitten, Ab Kitten and Joe Kitten.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Lakin. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, all at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.
