SCOTT CITY — Vernon Dean Rufenacht, 89, died on May 24, 2019, at the Morton County Senior Living Community in Elkhart.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1930 in Ransom, to Fred William and Blanch Elizabeth Horchem Rufenacht.

On July 15, 1956, he married Lorene Chance in Garden City.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by three sisters, Urla Hopkins of Scott City, Ila Thearl of Milwaukee and Freda Stafford of Perryton, Texas; and brother, George Rufenacht of Scott City.

He was preceded in death by he parents and wife.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City. Interment will be in Rose, Okla.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
