Helen Anna Michel, 90, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Garden Valley Retirement Village Assisted Living in Garden City.

She was born July 11, 1928, in Cullman, Ala., to Joe Otto and Dovie Jane (Williamson) Schwaiger.

She married Ray Stinemetz Jr. on Sept. 14, 1946. She later married P.C. Michel on May 2, 1976, in Clayton, N.M. He died on May 6, 2010.

She graduated Garden City High School. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Church Of The Brethren, VFW. Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, Senior Center of Finney County and RSVP. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, crossword puzzles and being involved with her grandchildren and their families.

She is survived by her son, Sonny Stinemetz, of Kinsley; two stepsons, Steve Michel, of Garden City, and David Michel, of Durango, Colo.; three sisters, Marie Loving, Maggie Fuller and Esther Murdock, all of Garden City; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sharon Kuhn; brother, Jody Schwaiger; sister, Josephine Wilken; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Garden Valley Retirement Village Chapel. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Church Of The Brethren, in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
