Franklin Everett Stewart, 83, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Harper Hospital in Harper.
He was born Nov. 23, 1935, in rural Sweetwater, Okla., to Jacob Franklin and Della Rose (Macklin) Stewart.
The family moved to Byron, Okla., when he was 6 and he attended school there, graduating from Byron-Driftwood High School in 1954.
On July 10, 1954, he married Carolyn Underwood in Cherokee, Okla.
They moved to Sand Springs, Okla., in 1955, when he began a 39-year career with C.R. Anthony Co., a clothing store with many locations. He managed stores in Winfield, then moved to Garden City, where he worked until his retirement in November 1994. In April 1995, he and Carolyn moved to Harper.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Harper; a sister, Lois Hofmeier of Harper; children, Sherri VanFossen of Olathe, Kathy Peck of Wellington, and Randy Stewart of Olathe; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Harper. Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 613 W. 14th, in Harper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harper United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
