Lawrence D. “L.D.” Niedens, 92, died Thursday, May 2, 2019, at The Ranch House in Garden City.

He was born March 15, 1927, in Barton County to Fred and Mary (Steinert) Niedens.

He served during World War II in the 3rd Army Engineers under General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

In 1948, he married Fern Karst.

On May 29, 1969, he married Cheryl (Smith) Henley. He was self-employed, conducting personal development workshops in addition to being co-owner with his wife of APX Printing for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dana Hammond; three sons, Mike Niedens, Craig Niedens and Darin Niedens; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter, Denise Henley; a brother, Ervin Niedens; and four sisters, Isabelle Schneider, Clista Funk, Helen Dumler and Alvina Dietz.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
