Alice F. Ochs, 66, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Dec. 27, 1952, in Newport, R.I., to John and Hilda (Ziegler) Selensky.
She grew up in Park and graduated from Wheatland High School. She then graduated from cosmetology school in Hays and later earned an associate degree from Colby Community College. She then earned a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University and a master's degree in social work from Washburn University. She has been a resident of Garden City since 2016.
On Aug. 16, 1975, she married J. Dean Ochs in Hays.
She worked as a social worker, most recently for DCF in Garden City.
Survivors include two children, Rae Ann and husband Dustin Mattke of Collyer, and Edward John “E.J.” and wife Brandy Ochs of Garden City; a brother, Brian Selensky of Wichita; and five grandchildren, Bailey Mattke, Allie Mattke, Raegan Mattke, Rynik Ochs and Axton Ochs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God in WaKeeney. A private family interment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays. There will be no calling hours.
