HOLCOMB — James Walter Azar, 55, died Monday, March 25, 2019, while in comfort care in Las Vegas.

He was born Nov. 2, 1963, at Myrtle Beach AFC, S.C.

After graduating in 1982 from Southeast of Saline High School, he attended Emporia State University and graduated in 1986. During his time at Emporia State, he served as an intern for U.S. Sen. Bob Dole in Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Army before relocating to Las Vegas, where he worked for the City of Las Vegas, retiring in 2018.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas. He was a loving husband and father of three children.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Williams Azar, daughter, Hannah Brooke Azar, and sons, Andrew James Azar and Zachary James Azar, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Cleta Kile, and father, Louis Azar; six sisters, Deborah Patterson, of Holcomb, Michele Azar, Jennifer White, Wendy VanWyck, Maricel Smith, and Neri Louise Azar; and several nieces and nephews.

He was buried April 5 at the Boulder Veteran’s Cemetery in Boulder, Nev.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Holcomb. Flowers or cards may be sent to Cleta Kile at The Cottages, 2002 Labrador Blvd #112, Garden City, KS 67846, or make a donation in James Azar's memory to the American Cancer Society.
